The Mapping Socioeconomic Inequalities in Cancer Mortality across European Countries (EU-CanIneq) project aims to map socioeconomic inequalities in cancer mortality across European countries and to contribute to the European Cancer Inequalities Registry (ECIR).
The EU-CanIneq project is a collaboration with the Erasmus MC (in the Netherlands) and, as part of the ECIR, it supports the European Union’s (EU’s) cancer control efforts to address structural inequalities in cancer outcomes. Socioeconomic factors largely explain the distribution of cancer between and within countries. The EU-CanIneq project will provide suitable indicators of cancer mortality by socioeconomic position across the EU. It will also include the publication of scientific reports and fact sheets and the distribution of materials related to the project and to cancer inequalities.
The expected impact of the EU-CanIneq project is to enhance cancer control across Europe by improving data on socioeconomic inequalities, supporting targeted health investments, guiding equity-focused policies, and fostering research, ultimately ensuring equitable cancer care for all citizens.
